Todd Philips Releases First Official Video Of Joaquin Phoenix As Joker!

Wow. I did NOT expect we’d see our first shot of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker this early in the filming process. I thought they’d save that sweet, sweet first look as a giant reveal for later.

Either way, the latest Instagram post from Joker director Todd Philips does just that, showing us poor Arthur Fleck as he morphs into… a really scary Joker to a very sad song.

Yes, it looks less like the Joker we know and love, and more like a classic, sad clown. Almost more of a  John Wayne Gacy scary clown. This is fitting for the film, which has been everything except traditional in comparison to nearly any other DC project from any decade.

It will be interesting to see if Joker goes through several looks throughout the film, perhaps settling on a more traditional Joker look by the end of the film.

Either way, sit back, and enjoy watching this video again and again, because it actually repeats. Like Jammer, I am finally getting excited about this Joker film, something I’d never thought I’d say.

What do you think of Joker’s look? Too nontraditional or a nice change of pace after Heath Ledger and Jared Leto? Do you think it will evolve as the film continues? Let us know in the comments below!
