Tom Hardy Is Signed Up For Three Venom Films

Well, we all better hope we like the new Venom film that stars Tom Hardy, because according to Total Film Magazine, the actor is signed up for three films. Now that doesn’t always mean the pieces are in place for future films, but Hardy is a big name and to have him commit surely means something. Admittedly, I don’t know a lot of comic book Venom, but I do know that a lot of the people who do read the comics, are none too happy about this upcoming adaptation

Like me, Hardy himself admitted he also isn’t overly familiar with the character, but says that he had a good guide, an expert really.

“I’m not going to lie, I just thought he was a black Spider-Man. I didn’t really read comic books, so my information was limited. But I was given loads of comics when I got involved. All the comics! And more importantly, I had my son as my guide. I was versed in the way of Venom by a 10-year-old. I consulted the oracle, there. And he would steer me on.”

I think it’s pretty great that Hardy’s guide was his 10-year-old son. If he’s as much of an expert as Hardy says he is, then comic book fans may get a version of the character they like, even if his origin isn’t the same. Along with Hardy the film’s cast includes Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and the always welcome Woody Harrelson. Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer

Venom hits theaters October 5.
