Toy Story 4 Scene Description Highlights Main Conflict

Pixar is taking a real creative risk with Toy Story 4. Sure, it’s a risk that will most certainly pay off in at least $1 billion in ticket sales, but given how well the story wrapped itself up in the third entry, they were pretty gutsy to jump back into it. Can they somehow capture lightning in a bottle for a fourth time in a row? That all remains to be seen, but from everything they’ve heard so far…it’s possible.

Now, we have our first basic scene description for the film, which comes courtesy of Twitter user Scott Ladewig, who had a chance to attend the Disney shareholders meeting. While there, some footage from Toy Story 4 was shown off, and the man got to describe a good chunk of it, which you can check out down below!

Toy Story 4… Bonnie makes Forky at school, Woody introduces him to everyone. They go on a road trip in a RV, Forky escapes because he wants to be a spork not a toy. Woody and Buzz go after him. Woody spots Bo in an anqoue ship [sic], he goes in, creepy doll in baby carriage says he can’t leave and sends super creepy ventriloquist dummies after Woody and Bo. No[w] very much in Rey the scavenger mode; taking control of situation.”

“Woody seems to be torn between making Bonnie happy as a toy and staying with Bo at carnival (?): Woody explains to Forky in a scene walking down road that he can bring happiness to Bonnie; he’s her favorite to; that’s what gives him life. Buzz and others go to bring Woody back. Also a quick scene showing Ken with a horseshoe moustache.”

Now, I’m going to be a bit of inferring here. As mentioned above, Bo has changed into something of a Rey-like scavenger, and based on how everything turned out, she’s likely pretty jaded about being with owners and is likely the big obstacle keeping Woody from returning to Bonnie.

There were comments from Tim Allen about this film, hinting at a Rhett Butler moment near the end, and I can’t help but wonder if this is Woody finally saying goodbye to Bo for good. That the two’s experiences have made them different toys and that he will go off to Bonnie, in spite of everything Bo Peep says. This all seems to also go with speculation that Bo could be the sort of the main villain of the piece, á la Lotsa in Toy Story 3.
