Oh, how far Rooster Teeth has come in all these years. I remember first stumbling into the world of Red vs. Blue back around 2004. For the longest time, it was their only series and only real production. It’s 2019, and things have changed quite a bit in the 15 years or so since they came to be. They’ve amped up Red vs. Blue, RWBY has hit it big with anime fans, they’ve done a couple live-action features, and now they have a new animated series in the form of gen:LOCK.

So what makes this new project so special? From an outsider’s perspective, one key component is its all-star cast. Leading them is Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, and he’s joined by Dakota Fanning, Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, and David Tennant. So yeah, it’s clear to see that they’ve leveled up their casting game from the usual in-house talent to some pretty recognizable names.

Below is the official synopsis for gen:LOCK:

“Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, and David Tennant star in the new show from the producers of RWBY. Fifty years in the future, an oppressive authoritarian force threatens to conquer the world. A daring team is recruited to pilot a new form of weaponized neuroscience that powers devastating mecha, but they must be willing to sacrifice everything to save the world.”
