Trailer: James Franco Goes Mad Max In Future World

Pulp isn’t really the word I’d use t describe any of James Franco’s film work. By and large, his stuff has swung from pure comedy to actor-intensive, but I can’t recall an instance where he went for straight-up ridiculous action. This ends today.

James Franco’s next joint (which he co-directed) sees him making what looks to be a piece of Mad Max fan fiction, for better or worse. Starring alongside Franco himself (you know he had to star in it) are Milla Jovovich, Suki Waterhouse, Lucy Liu, Method Man, and Snoop Dogg. It’s all a bit ridiculous, and I’d like to think that all parties involved knew what they were going for when they made it. From the looks of it, it seems like the kind of film I’d watch in college with a group of friends and a brick of Natty Light.

Below is the official synopsis for Future World.

“In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a prince from the oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing queen (Lucy Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with the warlord (James Franco) and his robot Ash (Suki Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate wastelands.”
