Trailer: Rowan Atkinson Returns In Johnny English Strikes Again

Oh. Well, this is unexpected. Apparently, we’re getting another Johnny English film from Universal in the form of Johnny English Strikes Again. The first film hit theaters fifteen years ago back in 2003, and its sequel, Johnny English Reborn hit in 2011, nearly a decade later.

Both films were critically-panned, and neither really appealed to North American audiences. However, while they lacked U.S. appeal, it more than made up for it in its foreign haul. Both films made $160 million worldwide, the Johnny English Reborn‘s foreign total making up 94.8 percent of its worldwide total. Clearly, there’s a demand for this film, even if it’s not for me!

The trailer doesn’t really impress. There’s a mild chuckle moment once or twice, but I don’t think it really succeeds in anything resembling…quality.

Below is the official synopsis for Johnny English Strikes Again:

JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN is the third installment of the Johnny English comedy series, with Rowan Atkinson returning as the much loved accidental secret agent. The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. Called out of retirement, English dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.”
