Trailer: Terrifying First Look At The Strangers: Prey At Night

About a decade ago, a home invasion film called The Strangers hit theaters. While the film wasn’t received incredibly well by critics upon its release, in recent years, it seems like many fans are looking back on that film, pretty fondly, and the idea of masked home invaders is interesting enough that making a sequel seemed inevitable.

After decades, we finally have our first look at what to expect in the form of a trailer…and it’s not half bad. This new film, The Strangers: Prey at Night stars Christina Hendricks, and shows a family retreat to a mobile home of sorts, only to be hunted down and terrorized by a group of masked assailants.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Strangers: Prey at Night:

“A road trip to visit relatives takes a dangerous turn when a family arrives at a secluded mobile home park that’s mysteriously deserted — until three masked psychopaths show up.”

While initially this trailer really seemed to make it look like a retread of the original, the stakes and scope are amped up a bit, as well as the pulpy style, which I’m all for. It also has a pretty good song choice, even if it feels a bit too much like it’s mimicking 10 Cloverfield Lane as a result.

The Strangers: Prey at Night hits theaters on March 9, 2018.
