Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been an interesting little ride for me over the past several years. As a huge fan of 30 Rock, I went into this series with incredibly high hopes, and while it still doesn’t hold a candle to that classic, it did manage to be a show that, more often than not, was a lot better than it needed to be — though I wasn’t really a huge fan of this past half-season.
But the times they are a-changin, and Netflix has decided to move on from this comedy series, leaving this last batch of episodes as the last remaining big of Kimmy Schmidt’s tale of survival in the Big Apple. In celebration of this, Netflix has released a new trailer for this final set of episodes, set to hit the streaming service on January 25 — so just over a week!

On the whole, it looks like this could be a return to form for the series. In my opinion, the show as always at its best when dealing with Kimmy’s mental problems as a result of being locked up in that shelter for all those years. It’s what made Season 2 especially impactful for me, and its skewing more towards the ridiculous (yes, even for this show), a bit unappealing. From this new trailer, it does look like she’ll be tackling some final inner demons, leading to, what I’d assume is the inevitable happy ending.
Also, as a side note, it looks like The Punisher himself Jon Bernthal may cameo as a potential love interest for Titus? I’m in just to see the hilarity that ensues from that.
