Venom Trailer 2 Hits: Will It Make You A Believer?

Sony’s Venom has been a pretty controversial potential piece of cinema up until now. After the dumpster fire that was Spider-Man 3, many of us have been wondering whether a true version of the character is even possible on the big screen. Would studios actually have the guts to bring the hyper-violent anti-hero to theaters without shaving off the edges?

On the heels of movies like Deadpool and Logan, it was made clear that audiences are ready to pay for it, and while Sony seems ready to come around, there is one big problem: Spider-Man. Many believe that Venom should not exist without Spider-Man. And yet here we are, ready to step into a world where Venom exists without everyone’s favorite webslinger.

The first trailer for the Tom Hardy-starring Venom hit with kind of a thud. Given its tangential nature to the source material, and its more grounded nature, many compared it to adaptations from the ’90s, where the comics were used mostly as jumping off points. There were then concerns about Venom being in the movie hardly at all, especially given the relatively low budget for this bad boy. Today, we got hit with another trailer…does it improve?

I have to say, on the whole, it does seem a bit better. But I wouldn’t say I’m convinced, as there are enough sticking points I have with some of the scenes shown here. However, if you were afraid of seeing almost no Venom in the film, then fret not — he looks to be a major player here. But is it good enough to make a believer out of you? Only you can be the judge.
