Vincent D’Onofrio Wants To Work With Taika Waititi

While Vincent D’Onofrio has been a working actor for decades, it’s safe to say he’s recently emerged as a geek fan favorite ever since he took on the role of Kingpin in the acclaimed (and now canceled) Daredevil series. So good was D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Wilson Fisk that some have hoped he’d somehow show up again in some form, be it in a film or a new Disney+-related show. But how possible is that?

Well, it’s a bit too early to start celebrating, but some may start reading the tea leaves based on a recent message that popped up on the interwebs. D’Onofrio recently took to Twitter to express his respect for Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waiti. He then straight up said it was time for them to work together. You can check out the tweet below.

“.@TaikaWaititi Hey man,
I think it’s time we work together. Im a big fan.”

So what can this mean? Well, let’s look at the possibilities here. Waititi, in addition to his work on Thor: Ragnarok, is also hard at work directing an episode of The Mandalorian for Disney+, meaning he does have a connection within the whole of the Disney family. Wishful thinking has me contemplating the number of ways it can result in a Kinpin-related series, though I don’t think that’s the way things would eventually turn out.

In my mind, there are two possibilities here. First is that D’Onofrio is teasing fans, hinting at a possibility of him being cast in The Mandalorian in Waititi’s episode. After all, he did add a period before the tweet, meaning he wanted readers to see it. The second is that he’s straight-up asking him to work together. He’s putting it out there like the Secret and just hoping for the best. In the past, D’Onofrio has said some stuff online, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back and said something like “I was just being a fan and putting it out there, guys. There’s nothing going on.”

But, of course, as with all things, only time will tell, but it is interesting to ponder over. What do you think? Is D’Onofrio teasing something Daredevil-related, Star Wars-related, general Waititi-related, or just throwing it out there? Let us know your thoughts down below!
