It’s no doubt that Rick Wershe Jr. was a very interesting young man in real life.

White Boy Rick stars Matthew McCounaughey in one of his most memorable role to date. He plays the father to Rick Wershe Jr., who becomes the youngest FBI informant in history and turned to a drug dealer. He was manipulated by the very system meant to protect him and abandoned by his FBI handlers. He was eventually sentenced to life in prison.

The film also stars Bel Powley (Diary of a Teenage Girl), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Brian Tyree Henry (FX’s Atlanta), Rory Cochrane (Black Mass), RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Jonathan Majors (Hostiles), Eddie Marsan (Deadpool 2), Bruce Dern (Nebraska) and Piper Laurie (Carrie). Rick Wershe Jr. is played by newcomer Richie Merritt.

White Boy Rick was directed by Yann Demange (’71) and written by Andy Weiss and Logan & Noah Miller.

It is currently out on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download today.
