WonderCon: DC Shows Brec Bassinger As Stargirl

Wondercon is here, and LRM is on the scene ready to bring you the latest and greatest from your favorite studios, publishers, artists, and more!!!

Last year DC and WB launched the DC Universe streaming service and let us know many of the projects that would appear on it. One of those was Stargirl, and we now have our first official look at Brec Bassinger in costume:

In the comics, Stargirl is the hero alias of high schooler Courtney Whitmore. Her family moves from LA to Nebraska where she has issues adjusting. She eventually finds out that her stepfather was a hero sidekick and takes up the costume of the original Star-Spangled Kid and an item called the Cosmic Staff to become Stargirl.

This character and this early image make me really surprised this didn’t end up being a CW show. The character is a teenager who has social issues and a split family…  bring on the angst! I guess it does make sense for WB to want this on DC Universe to branch out some more. So far the live-action offerings are two ensemble shows, Titans and Doom Patrol, and upcoming solo series Swamp ThingStargirl will have an appeal to younger audiences in general but I can see it becoming a favorite of “tween” girls. The star has been in several shows on Nickelodeon that are geared towards that audience.

The show is set to hit early in 2020 and will also star Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, Courtney’s step-father.

What do you think of the costume? Are you excited for the show? Let us know in the comments below!
