World War Z Sequel Not Shooting Just Yet

In 2013 Paramount released the film Wold War Z, which was loosely based on the book that goes by the same title written by Max Brooks. The film was directed by Marc Foster and starred Brad Pitt and Mireille Enos. This film went through some terrible times throughout their production, with things getting as bad as halting production in order to have the ending rewritten and shot from scratch. Even with that and other issues, the film went on to gross $540 million worldwide, leaving Paramount Pictures to believe that they could still make it work.

Fast forward now to to this year when we had rumors that the sequel for World War Z, now directed by David Fincher would begin to shoot in the fall. Well according to The Playlist, sources close to the project have confirmed to them that they are not shooting the film in the fall at all for quite a few reasons.

First of all the untitled sequel for World War Z still has it’s draft in development and apparently it still isn’t ready. Also Fincher’s Netflix show Mindhunter will begin shooting it’s second season at the end of this month. This is something him and his crew have been working on for months now in Pittsburgh. So he will be occupied with this show during the summer and into the fall, so for now you can put the sequel for World War Z back on the shelf.

Not that there are a lot of people out there desperately waiting for a sequel after many fans of Brooks’ title were left disappointed. I would be interested to see what direction they take the sequel. Are you looking forward to a World War Z sequel? Let us know in the comment section below!
