WWE Teases “Broken” Fans On Their Twitter

The WWE is ramping up promotion for their biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania. With that, they are using all the tools they have at their disposal to get the word out. One avenue has been Twitter, where the company has tweeted numerous Wrestlemania moments from the past 32 shows.

One tweet in particular has gotten the attention of fans. Showing a clip of Matt Hardy facing off against Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania 25, the WWE had this to say.

Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions after spending years in Impact Wrestling. During the last year of Dixie Carter’s ownership of the company, the only major story that intrigued viewers was the character of “Broken” Matt Hardy and his battles with his brother Jeff, who he called Brother Nero. The duo had a fascinating match called The Final Deletion which is nothing like any wrestling match you will ever see. They topped that off with Delete or Decay, and ended it with their masterpiece, Total Nonstop Deletion, the tour de force that saw Matt Hardy’s one year old son Maxel have his first match, which he won, and a bizarre Tag Team Apocalypto match which was ended after a member of Decay fell into a volcano which promptly spit him back up and into the ring where Matt Hardy pinned him to regain the Tag Team Titles. That actually happened.

The Hardy’s recently left Impact Wrestling on some bad terms. Whether it is due to the new owners at Anthem Sports or returning figure head Jeff Jarrett, the new owners of Impact Wrestling sent the brothers cease and desist letters as well as to cable companies that were running the latest Ring of Honor Pay Per View. The company’s argument is that they own the intellectual property that is the “Broken” Matt Hardy character and that while they don’t have a problem with him of Jeff using the “Broken” characters, they want a percentage of their salary if they do use them.

That lawsuit is still pending. What is intriguing people is the timing of this tweet. Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that the WWE has offered the pair a new contract to return to the WWE. If their popularity in social media circles is any indication, the WWE will do good to get these guys on the roster as soon as they can. The tweet above received more interaction on Twitter than any other tweet sent out by the WWE in March apart from the news of Goldberg winning the Universal Championship at Fastlane. With the Hardy’s successful reinvention and the WWE audience loving nostalgia, seeing the Hardy’s in a WWE ring again after Wrestlemania will definitely be a sight to see.
