“… I’ve got yours.”

Maggie looks around and takes in the morning scenery of Hilltop. The Blacksmiths are making spears. Sasha is sharpening her knife. Maggie leads a training in knife throwing and later makes time to have Dr. Carlson perform a check-up on her baby. This opening shows us the tranquility and connection between the people of Hilltop. We’re also shown the first meeting between Maggie and Daryl since the death of Glenn. A meeting where Maggie quietly provides food to Daryl and Daryl receives it. The two never make eye contact with each other.

This brief moment, where not one word is spoken, reminds us of the pain these two share. Maggie of course is reminded of the loss of Glenn, while Daryl has tortured himself with the belief that he is the one responsible for his death. While brief, it is enough for us to reminisce on the impact that moment has left on these two characters.

After coming to an agreement with Rosita, Sasha is prepared to head out on their mission to assassinate Negan. Jesus and Enid try to get her to change her mind, but Sasha won’t do it. Jesus, having become comfortable with Maggie and Sasha as a part of the community and personally confiding in Maggie, feels she needs to stay. However, it’s no use. Her mind is set. Enid tells Sasha that she has ten minutes to get out with Rosita before she tells Maggie the truth. As Sasha packs up, Hilltop is honored with a surprise visit by the Saviors. Maggie and Daryl are rushed into a cellar while Rosita and Sasha use an underground tunnel to depart from Hilltop. The Saviors are not only in the area to perform their usual collection, but they have also arrived to transfer Dr. Carlson from Hilltop back to the Saviors Headquarters, taking over for his newly departed brother.

From this point forward, this episode focuses primarily on two conflicts: the pain shared by Daryl and Maggie along with the unlikely partnership of Rosita and Sasha.

After a close call hiding from a Savior, a moment where Maggie had to hold Daryl back from killing him, the two are alone. Within moments of making eye contact, Daryl begins to breakdown, apologizing to Maggie for the death of Glenn. Maggie consoles him, assuring him the blame is entirely on Negan and that Daryl is one of the good guys, like Glenn was. It is a moment that, with everything he has been through, Daryl so desperately needed. He’s carried this burden while held captive by the Saviors, during his minimal time in the Kingdom and while lying to Carol about the past events. Finally, that weight and guilt is relieved when Maggie lifts it all off his shoulders with her words and hug.

Rosita and Sasha have this obstacle where the two of them shared love with Abraham, yet also share the anger in wanting vengeance against Negan for killing him. Rosita is cold, remaining focused on the mission and nothing more. From creating diversions to hot-wiring cars to killing a few walkers, Rosita and Sasha make it to the building across from Saviors HQ. As they wait for the perfect shot of Negan, Rosita finally begins to open up to Sasha, revealing how she learned all her tactics from men she dated. The two make a connection, agreeing how great Abraham was and that he did not deserve to go out the way he did. Rosita finally lets her guard down and allows herself to be vulnerable. The two promise to have each other’s back no matter what.

When the sniper shot can’t be taken, Rosita and Sasha move in at night on their suicidal Plan B. Rosita provides cover as Sasha slides through the hole in the chainlink fence Rosita made… And then closes it back up, not allowing Rosita to join her. Sasha tells Rosita that this is not her end; that her mission isn’t over and that her story continues with Hilltop and Alexandria. Sasha runs into the Savior building as Rosita runs away before the Saviors can spot her.

Clear of any Saviors, an emotional Rosita stops running and hunches over, trying to make sense of what just occurred. As she stands up, she sees in the distance a long-haired silhouette carrying a crossbow over its shoulder.

Is it Daryl?… Or is it Dwight?
