LAAPFF 2019: Director Ximan Li and Actors Yi Liu and Celia Au On Asian Cultures for In A New York Minute

Three strangers. One pregnancy test.

In director’s Ximan Li’s directorial debut, In a New York Minute follows three strangers finding the solution to their unrelated problems with a single pregnancy test. The first story follows Amy, a food critic with an eating disorder after a past breakup. Angel is an actress, who is caught between a loveless marriage with an American businessman and a passionate affair with a Chinese writer. Lastly, Nina is a karaoke hostess, who is saving money in order to flee her loveless family.

The film stars Celia Au, Amy Chang, Yi Liu, Ludi Lin, and Cheng Pei Pei. The film is written by Ximan Li, which was based off a Chinese short story.

In a New York Minute made its world premiere recently at the Newport Beach Film Festival late last month and will be making its premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival tonight.

LRM Online sat down exclusively with director Ximan Li, along with actors Yi Liu and Celia Au on their characters and cultural interpretations of the characters.
