Yup, The Breaking Bad Movie Is Happening, And It Will Air On AMC And Netflix

I know, if you have been following the film and TV news stuff for a while, chances are this may actually sound like old news to you. But the reality is that everything we heard about a supposed Breaking Bad film was all hearsay — reliable hearsay, mind you — but hearsay nonetheless. While this latest piece of news isn’t an official confirmation, it is a corroboration of everything we’ve heard in the past, but from one of the big trades.

THR is stating that, as expected, the impending Breaking Bad movie will not focus on Walter White, but will instead focus on Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul. If you haven’t checked out the series recently, the show ended with Jesse finally escaping captivity and driving off into the distance, finally free. However, I personally always felt there could be more to explore there. The year he spent in a hole in the ground was bound to leave some real mental scars, so I thought there’d be no way for him to be happy. It looks like this movie will help to fill that gap for me.

Netflix also reportedly has first-run rights for the movie, which I’m guessing means if you’re a subscriber, you’ll be able to watch it the second it comes out (though it’s not clear if there are special domestic and international rights differences). The film will then air on AMC.

This movie is written by Vince Gilligan, who created the series, and from the sound of it, he will also serve as director. There is no word yet on when we can expect to see the flick hit the web and network.
