Zack Snyder Says That Wasn’t Supergirl’s Pod In Man Of Steel

Now that Supergirl has been announced as a part of DC’s film slate, should the film be luckier than the other dozen films on the slate we will never see, it is time to revisit an Easter Egg from Man of Steel that many thought pointed to Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl.

Of course, we are talking about the cryo-sleep pod spotted in Man of Steel that was presumed to be Supergirl’s.

With a new Supergirl movie that may not even tie into what has come before, due to all this DC Extended Universe/Worlds of DC madness, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder has clarified on his favorite social media platform, Vero, that the pod is not Kara’s:

“The open pod was something more.”

So, something we’ll never see now that Snyder is gone? That kind of “something more?”

In a tie-in comic to the Man of Steel film, it was established that the ship Superman later uses as his fortress of solitude was Supergirl’s, landing thousands of years before the events of Man of Steel, with Kara Zor-El not receiving powers, and likely dying of old age.

A good amount of the DCEU is built around New 52 material from the comics, where Supergirl, though older than Kal-El at the destruction of Krypton, took a much longer journey to get to Earth, in suspended animation, so she arrives later and is now younger than her baby cousin.

So, whatever that pod was for, we may never know. But it wasn’t Supergirl’s. Got it? Good.
