LRM Openings

January 7, 2019

Do you want to write for LRM?  Listed below are the places we are looking for extra help.

Do you have a passion for writing about Films, TV Shows, Comics, or Video Games? Awesome! We want to hear from you! Listed below are some of the categories where we are looking for extra help, along with answers to some questions you might have. Note: the following open positions are unpaid.

What do Editors do?

In addition to writing regularly, Editors also recruit other writers, edit and schedule other pieces, and manage social media for the sites. Editors decide what gets published on the site, and will work with LRM Senior Editors for training. More specific detailed duties can be found in their specific job description. This is a larger time commitment than contributors.

What do Contributors do?

Typically, site contributors write at least twice a week on topics of their choosing, although alternative arrangements can be worked out with their Senior Editors. Contributors may also potentially help with social media promotion, convention promotion, or other site duties. See the specific job posting for details, or reach out to one of the site editors.

Why should I write for LRM?

There are lots of reasons! If you are a fanboy/fangirl and love writing, LRM provides the best platform to engage with other fans and promote your work. It has the best publishing platform, a strong brand, excellent training, and an amazing team.

Many members of LRM came from their own personal blogs and have used their experience with LRM to give themselves additional professional opportunities in marketing, social media, advertising, and more. If you’re looking to start a media-focused career, or are just a passionate movie/tv fan looking to advance the conversation, there isn’t a better place to start than with LRM.

Are these positions paid?

A vast majority of these positions are volunteer-based with no payment.  See the specific job posting, or reach out to the site manager, for specific details relating to your position. None of these positions would be classified as a “full time” position, though.

I would like to start an LRM Editorial. How do I do that?

We’re pretty conservative about starting new topics at LRM, but that doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t be open to the right opportunity. If there is something you’re passionate about that we’re not covering that you think we should, feel free to send a pitch to michael@lrmonline.com

Your pitches must consist of a rough title, as well as a thesis. What are you trying to prove? Give us an opening paragraph so we can get a feel for your writing. Then, you must provide all pieces of evidence proving your thesis. These don’t need to be super detailed, but they should be able to be picked up and understood by your average reader who is only vaguely familiar with the topic at hand. It’s important that your pieces be accessible by a general audience.

How do I Apply and do I need experience to be a Contributor?

There is no experience necessary, and these will not be paid positions. If you do have experience, email me some past writing samples and a resume at michael@lrmonline.com. If you do not have experience, please write a sample article that is about a topic of your choosing and that is similar to what you would want to write about on the site. Once you have done that, go ahead and email me and I can check it out. Please mention your core expertise or interest, and please only choose one.

Please give me some time to get back to you, but I promise I will get back to everyone. Thanks for your interest![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
