‘Army of Darkness 2’ is Happening!
On the long road to bringing Ash back to the big screen Campbell said, “The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.” And then, after making a few jokes about an elderly Ash fighting off the deadites with a walker, he finally came out and said, “The answer is Yes” to whether or not the movie is really happening. This is all according to the good folks over at Bloody-Disgusting.
You might recall that the remake was a moderate hit, earning $54 million on only a $17 million budget. At WonderCon back in March, as the film was getting ready to be released, its director- Fede Alvarez- revealed the “master plan” for what could happen with the franchise. He claimed he’d make a sequel to the rebooted “Evil Dead” film while Raimi, separately, made “Army of Darkness 2” and then- get this- the two worlds would cross paths in a seventh film. “I think seven is a nice number,” Campbell added at the time. If this works out, it would certainly be an unprecedented move. Can you think of an example that even comes close to this?
Regardless, “Evil Dead” fans, its time to rejoice. Ash, his boomstick, and Sam Raimi, will be back.
