Will Smith in Early Talks for ‘Brilliance’

Will this be a brilliant move?

TheWrap is reporting that actor Will Smith is in early talks to star in “Brilliance,” a potential tentpole project for Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures.

The film is adapted from a script by David Koepp off of the Marcus Sakey novel.

The sci-fi story is about a world in which one percent of the people called “brilliants” having special abilities. Nick Cooper, a federal agent in the novel, has a special gift that assists him at hunting terrorists. And his next target is another brilliant who is intending to provoke a civil war.

Julius Onah (“God Particle”) will helm the project.

Smith needs a nice bounce from last year’s box office bomb “After Earth” and passing up on the “Independence Day” sequel.
