Aaron Taylor-Johnson Explains How His Quicksilver Is Different
Â
Ah, yes. Dueling Quicksilvers. It’s been a topic since word first broke that Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, would be appearing in both X-Men: Days of Future Past and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Two different studios. Two different takes. Two completely different worlds. The same character. The early buzz from fanboy nation was that Joss Whedon’s take on the character would be the definitive one, due to the Avengers franchise adhering much closer to the books than the X-films, and that feeling was multiplied tenfold when initial photos of the X-Men version of the character went viral that made him look rather…well, dumb.
But then something funny happened: X-Men: Days of Future Past actually came out, and Quicksilver’s big sequence ended up being one of the highlights of the entire 2014 blockbuster movie season.
In a recent chat with IGN, the other Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) says that Bryan Singer’s take on the character was “brilliant. And a lot of fun. I enjoyed it.” But he also explains how his take is different, how the connection to his twin sister (Scarlet Witch, who was pretty much absent from DoFP) is vital to the character, and how this version will be much more connected to the books.
The clip is only 1:45 long. You should give it a look to hear his comments on Quicksilver.
You’ll get to experience Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver when Avengers: Age of Ultron takes over the world on May 1.
