Affleck Talks About Batman’s Rage In ‘Dawn of Justice’

There are certain qualities that are synonymous with the character of Batman. We know he’s distrustful; he’s cerebral; he’s vengeful; he’s reclusive. We also know that, deep down, he’s very, very angry. Ben Affleck, the 42 year old megastar charged with the task of bringing the Dark Knight to the big screen in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, says he knows a little something about anger.

In a chat with the UK’s Mirror, Affleck reveals that he and Bruce Wayne share that particular character flaw.

“For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with, put up with, put up with… then when it emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over. I’m not gonna do a Wolverine berserk rage, but I do have a, I do…”

Despite the fact that he considers it a flaw, the actor also acknowledges that it’s a necessary element for any successful big screen depiction of Batman.

“I think it’s a necessity, historically, in the tradition of these films.”

So do we think Affleck is going to tap into all of his post-Gigli “Why do you hate me so much?!” rage for his portrayal of Batman?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25, 2016, heralding the start of an onslaught of DC movies.
