Apple TV+ has revealed an upcoming six-part docuseries titled “Vietnam: The War That Changed America,” produced by the renowned 72 Films, a Fremantle company. This compelling series aims to present an in-depth look into the Vietnam War, marking the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon and the end of the conflict that left an indelible mark on both Vietnam and the United States.

“The Vietnam War remains one of the most polarizing chapters in American history,” the announcement states. During the war, vivid and often harrowing footage of the conflict was broadcasted nightly into American homes, igniting widespread protests and profoundly reshaping the nation’s identity. Through meticulous journalism and extensive archival footage, “Vietnam: The War That Changed America” seeks to bring forth the personal and human stories of those who experienced the war firsthand.

The series promises to deliver powerful narratives by tracking down soldiers and civilians from all sides of the conflict. In many cases, these individuals will come together for the first time in nearly fifty years, sharing their emotional experiences and the difficult decisions they faced during the war. Each episode is designed to highlight these poignant reunions and the impactful stories of life-or-death situations and moral dilemmas.

Beyond the personal stories, the series will also explore the broader societal changes that emerged in America post-war, painting a picture of a nation transformed. This comprehensive approach aims to offer viewers not only a historical recount but also a deep understanding of the war’s enduring legacy.

The docuseries is directed by Rob Coldstream, known for “John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial,” and produced by Caroline Marsden, with executive producers David Glover and Mark Raphael. This project represents the second collaboration between Apple TV+ and 72 Films, following the success of “John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial.”

Subscribers can access Apple TV+ on a wide range of devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, Macs, popular smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming devices.
