Disney+ has officially revealed that Tamara Smart, known for her role in “Resident Evil,” will join the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as the beloved character Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus. Smart is set to appear as a recurring guest star in season two, joining the show’s stellar ensemble, which includes Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.
Season two will adapt The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s bestselling Percy Jackson series. Fans of the series will recognize Thalia Grace as the brave daughter of Zeus, who sacrificed herself to protect her friends at Camp Half-Blood. In a dramatic twist, Zeus transformed her into a tree that strengthens the magical barrier protecting the camp. Thalia’s character is known for her rebellious, punk attitude and her unwavering loyalty to her friends, alongside her complicated relationship with the world of the gods.
Riordan, creator of the series, expressed his excitement over Smart’s casting, saying, “Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so the right casting was critical. As soon as we saw Tamara Smart play this role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electric. Tamara puts the ‘grace’ in Thalia Grace!”

Tamara Smart’s role carries special significance, as she previously worked with the late Lance Reddick, who portrayed Zeus in season one. The two actors also played father and daughter in a prior project, making this casting choice deeply personal for Smart. Reflecting on this connection, Smart shared, “I’m so grateful and excited to be joining the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It’s so close to my heart. Lance Reddick and I always spoke about working together again, so it’s that much more special and important to me to play his daughter once more as Thalia, and to keep his memory alive. I feel his presence all around me and strive to make him proud on this exciting journey.”
Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is produced by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, alongside a team of top-tier producers, including Dan Shotz, Rebecca Riordan, and Craig Silverstein. The season is currently in production in Vancouver, with a 2025 release planned.
