On March 6th, the Hugh Jackman-starrer Real Steel 2 will roll into theaters. Wait. No. That’s not right.
The movie in question is Chappie, and far more promising than a sequel to that Shawn Levy film, it’s actually the latest film from Neill Blomkamp- the man that gave us District 9 and Elysium. This original sci-fi action film will tell the story of an android named Chappie that is able to feel and think for itself. Shortly after his “birth” he is kidnapped by two criminals and raised as part of a dysfunctional family. Chappie suddenly finds himself in the crosshairs of Jackman’s Vincent, who sees the robot as a threat to humanity.
Below is the latest TV spot for the film:
Chappie is played, via motion-capture, by frequent Blomkamp collaborator, Sharlto Copley. The cast also includes sci-fi royalty Sigourney Weaver, and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, The Newsroom).
