I just can’t figure out how I feel about this. As many may know, our beloved butler, Alfred Pennyworth, will be getting his own spin-off show. While many versions have shown an Alfred who can absolutely hold his own, there is still to be a definitive depiction of the character, but the show is going to work as a prequel to the conclusion of Gotham. According to ComicBookMovie.com, we may be in for a pretty dark version. Not only did producer Danny Cannon confirm the status of the show, but he also gave some more insight regarding what to expect:
“The tone of the series will be extremely dark as we see Alfred (Jack Bannon) work alongside Thomas Wayne to form a security company in London, England. ‘It’s twenty something years before Gotham, it’s a very different world,’ ‘This is the DC version of 1960s London.'”
As far as the big baddies go, don’t expect to see anyone from Batman’s rouge’s gallery. He did add that, “archetypal villains and classic villains of British literature; they’re all available to us.” He then went on to say that he hopes to deliver an “unhinged, R-rated series.”
Apparently the test audiences have been providing mainly positive feedback. I do like Jack Bannon as Alfred, but I can’t personally see this lasting longer than a season or two, but hey, I’ve been wrong before (numerous times). What are your thoughts of the show? Will you tune in, or does it not seem like something that will interest you? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
