SCOOP CONFIRMED: MARVEL’S DEFENDERS Nearing Its Shoot Date

Marvel Entertainment seems to be throwing out these Netflix show like damn hotcakes. We’ve been getting two of them a year for the past two years, and if recent rumors are any indication, we’ll be getting more than two-a-year next year. But while it’s very clear that these series are doing all kinds of great business for Netflix and Marvel, it’s never quite clear just when they shoot these things. There is often so much secrecy surrounding them that we don’t know when they’re shooting until they’re actually shooting.

This was the case for all their Netflix shows to date. But that doesn’t stop us from trying to get an idea of what their schedule is.

Back in April, one of our sources told us that Marvel would be looking to the Fall to shoot their mammoth teamup limited series The Defenders. Not only that, they pinpointed August-October as the most likely window in which they would be shooting.

Now, a recent video from Luke Cage himself, Mike Colter states that there would be a 3-week gap between filming Iron Fist and The Defenders, and according to the fine folks over at MCU Exchange, all signs are pointing to Iron Fist wrapping very soon — which would put us at around a month or less away from the shooting of The Defenders.

What a good time it is to be a Marvel TV fan!

Iron Fist hits Netflix March 17 next year, while Defenders and The Punisher all hit the streaming service at currently-undisclosed dates.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are all currently streaming on Netflix as we speak.
