Snowpiercer: Lena Hall’s Character Was Completely Redesigned From The Ground Up
Snowpiercer has had some trouble getting to the small screen. There was a Pilot written, designed, produced, and filmed that didn’t sit well with the studio executives at TNT. As mentioned in an earlier article (HERE) Graeme Manson was brought on to fix the show and get it to a full series order. There were completely changed sets, characters, and stories in Manson’s new vision and one of the most drastic changes came to the character being played by Tony Award Winner Lena Hall.

Halls’s character runs the train’s cabaret and brothel and plays an important part in equalizing the train’s classes. She and her company are a source of information and can be used as mediators amongst the power players at every level. During a roundtable interview at New York ComicCon 2019, LRM Online learned that the showrunners came to Hall to use her expertise in building the world she runs.
Hall is a musical and Broadway star with lots of experience in the elaborate designs and music that would be used in a cabaret and admitted that “there’s a lot of Lena Hall in the cabaret.” This seems like an incredibly smart use of available resources and it will likely result in a more believable experience on screen.
