THE LEFTOVERS To Return To HBO For Final Season In April 2017
It’s been about a year since fans had their last taste of the HBO drama series The Leftovers. While not exactly a ratings hit (each episode hit less than a million viewers each week — compared to Game of Thrones, which regularly hits over 7 million viewers an episode), the series has its rabid fans, how have been hungry for more since December 2015.
Well, the wait is officially over. As revealed via social media by show creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta — the latter of whom penned the book on which the series is based — the third and final season will hit HBO starting April 2017.
For those unfamiliar, The Leftovers takes place years after two percent of the world’s population disappears (Left Behind style). That said event is referred to as the “Sudden Departure,†and show focuses on the loss that those left behind face — of course, with plenty of interesting twists and turns along the way.
Season 3 of The Leftovers will see the return of Justin Therous, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, and Janel Moloney.
