Trailer For Baz Lurhmann’s Ambitious Netflix Project ‘THE GET DOWN’ Is HERE!
Baz Luhrmann, the visionary filmmaker behind such films as MOULIN ROUGE, ROMEO & JULIET, and THE GREAT GATSBY is about to bring his outsized artistry to the small screen for the first time. The director and writer is shepherding an ambitious new series for Netflix called THE GET DOWN. The project is set to premiere later this summer on the streaming network, and there’s a new trailer here to give you a glimpse of what you’re in store for.

THE GET DOWN will be a period piece, set in the Bronx during the 1970s. It features a foursome of relative unknowns, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Mamoudou Athie, Skylan Brooks, and Tremaine Brown Jr., but will the youthful cast will also be anchored by vets like Jimmy Smits and Giancarlo Esposito.
The first six episodes of THE GET DOWN are set to hit Netflix on August 12.
