A Quiet Place 2 Is The Latest Coronavirus Casualty

A Quiet Place Part II has been officially delayed.

If you were hoping to catch up with the Abbott family in the next couple of weeks, I have some sad news for you. The coronavirus has negatively impacted countless industries, and the film industry is not immune. We already saw several conventions get canceled, and even No Time to Die was pushed so that it wasn’t affected. But as the COVID-19 continues to spread among the general population, more and more films are likely going to be delayed.

The next casualty comes in the form of the thriller A Quiet Place Part II. The film may have had its world premiere just a few days back, but rather than take any risks, they pushed it back indefinitely. The move was revealed by director John Krasinski, who took to social media to share the news.

“To all our A Quiet Place fans,” Krasinski wrote. “One of the things I’m most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together. Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for all of you to see this movie…I’m gonna wait to release the film til we CAN all see it together! So here’s to our group movie date! See you soon! #AQuietPlacePart2…Take2”

It’s as classy of a message as one could expect given the circumstances. What is clear here is that Krasinski really wants A Quiet Place Part II to be a communal experience. Given the state of the world, a communal experience simply isn’t safe.

Sadly, unlike No Time to Die, A Quiet Place Part II wasn’t given a new release date. From what we can tell, they’re playing it day by day. The reality is we don’t know the future path of the coronavirus, so they likely don’t want to commit to a new date, only to have to push it once again.
