Aquaman Director Assures Fans There Will Be No Air Bubble Dialogue In His Film

Justice League answered a lot of questions regarding Aquaman. However, if there was one thing that left some viewers a bit unsatisfied, it may have been the Atlantean solution to talking.

For the majority of the underwater scenes in the film, there is absolutely no talking. I remember when watching it myself, I was wondering whether or not Atlanteans would be able to actually talk underwater. Then, Mera opened up a water bubble, and she and Arthur proceeded to have a conversation inside the water bubble. Is this what we can expect in the upcoming standalone Aquaman movie?

Luckily, no, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Aquaman director James Wan recently took to Twitter to back down that piece of speculation. Here’s what he had to say:

That’s certainly a bit of relief for someone like me. While creating air bubbles to talk in is one way to achieve dialogue in Atlantis, it doesn’t quite feel as fulfilling as we had hoped it would be. If Atlantean‘s are creatures that live entirely underwater, it would be pretty uninspired for them to have to speak like us humans do.

But what could James Wan’s solution actually be? We don’t really know, but half of the fun will be discovering that when we do find out. What do you think the solution is to underwater dialogue? Let us know your thoughts on the comes down low!
