Birds Of Prey Casts Mary Elizabeth Winstead And Jurnee Smollet-Bell
Warner Bros. and DC have just locked down two of their titular birds of prey for the upcoming Birds of Prey film. According to a new report from THR, actresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be joining Margot Robbie in this new girl gang superhero film.
Winstead is well-known for films like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and the TV show Fargo, among many other titles. She will be taking on the role of Huntress. From what we know, the version of the character she’ll be taking on his Helena Bertinelli, who is the daughter of a mafia boss. After her parents are killed, she makes a vow to put an end to crime.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell is known mostly for Friday Night Lights and True Blood, but she’ll also play a role in Lovecraft Country, a project from Jordan Peele. She will play the character Black Canary, a character who has frequented the Arrowverse on TV.
These two won after several auditions and screen tests, and some of their competition included Death Note‘s Margaret Qualley and Black Mirror‘s Cristin Milioti.
Winstead and Smollett-Bell will be joining Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and director Cathy Yan. The script is from Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson.
