If you’re a filmmaker, you don’t really get freer than Christopher Nolan. Sure, some could point to Quentin Tarantino as the REAL auteur of the two, but Nolan is the one really pushing high-concept ideas and big spectacle films without having to worry his leads wearing caps or suits. In short, he’s a director who’s able to make what he wants for as much as he wants. You don’t make a film like Inception without having some level of respect and freedom within Hollywood.
Well, it sounds like he’s taking things to new heights with his latest film, Tenet, if we’re to believe the Estonia-based outlet ERR News. According to them, Nolan’s latest will cost €200 million to hit the big screen. This means it’d be around $225 million — a hefty sum for any filmmaker.

Sure, $225 million may not be Nolan’s most expensive movie (The Dark Knight Rises cost $250 million), but again, we’re talking about a film that has no brand attached to it. It’s an untested story, features unknown characters, and an unknown premise. The closest thing we have to a brand attached to it is Nolan himself, which is saying a lot.
I don’t think it’s shocking that he’s going all ambitious on us for his next film — he does that a lot — but I can’t help but be impressed with how much the studios are willing to spend on him. But what do you think of this? Would you trust that man with $225 million? Let us know your thoughts down below!
