Denis Villeneuve’s James Bond Film Will Be Scripted By Stephen Knight

The next 007 movie has a writer as as Denis Villeneuve’s James Bond movie will be scripted by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight. As per Deadline,

‘After setting Denis Villeneuve to direct the next James Bond movie, Amazon MGM Studios has a writer in its sights to pen the next installment in the 007 franchise. Sources tell Deadline that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been set to write the pic.’

‘While there have been rumors about who could potentially play the coveted lead role, sources say the only focus in recent weeks has been who would write the script, with a number of meetings taking place with potential candidates. In recent weeks, the British-born Knight seemed to be putting himself in pole position, but insiders said a final sign-off could not be given until he met with Villeneuve, who is currently filming the next Dune film. Insiders say that meeting finally took place in the last week, with Villeneuve fully on board for Knight to get the job.’

When it comes to a James Bond film, there’s three things you need to get going, a director, a script and a lead star. One would imagine that will be the next on Amazon’s list, and the biggest news of all. Knight and Villeneuve are likely a one and done, but the actor will be around for potentially years in the role.

Most recently Knight was the latest writer on the Star Wars Rey Sequel, though, still not satisfied, Lucasfilm now have that script in other hands. I do like this combination and I’m more looking forward to this than I was when we heard Amazon had full control, and Amy Pascal was a producer. I guess they know the first one needs to be a hit.

What do you think of Stephen Knight scripting Denis Villeneuve’s James Bond movie? Thoughts below.
