Disney’s Live-Action Pinocchio Is Getting A Rewrite From A Playwright

Disney’s live-action Pinocchio remake has a new screenwriter. Back to the drawing board, I suppose.

The DisInsider reports that Jack Thorne will be rewriting the script for yet another Disney live-action remake. The first draft was penned by Chris Weitz who also wrote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Cinderella live-action remake for Disney.

Jack Thorne’s major writing credit is the Harry Potter And The Cursed Child play.

DisInsider also reports that Disney is aiming to begin production in June, both in the UK and Italy with production expected to wrap in September. The film has a budget of $150 million, very close to the price tag of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.

Unfortunately, the film no longer has a director after Paul King (Paddington 2) left the project, so Disney better start searching quick in order for production to begin this soon. The film still has no release date, but we will be getting live-action remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Mulan before Pinocchio. But, eventually, we will, indeed, see Pinocchio become a real boy!

What do you think of these developments? Is Disney rushing this project with a summer shoot date without a finished script and director? Let us know in the comment section below!
