It seems Only Murders in the Building Season 6 will be a Doctor Who reunion as Peter Capaldi added to cast alongside David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker. Tennant and Whittaker had already been revealed for the guest cast in Season 6, but now Capaldi has been added as well. The popular Disney+/Hulu series stars Martin Short, Selena Gomez and Steve Martin and regular switches up big guest stars for each new Season.
David Tennant played the 10th and 14th Doctor’s, Capaldi the 12th and Whittaker the 13th in the long running BBC sci-fi series. Doctor Who often brings back older Doctors for specials. However, whilst Tennant and Whittaker are always up for this, Capaldi has said he’s done for good with that role. So this news does have Whovians excited as well.

‘Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor, has been cast as a recurring guest star in the London-set installment of Only Murders In the Building. He joins fellow Season 6 recurring cast additions Jodie Whittaker, who was Capaldi’s successor and the first woman to portray the iconic Time Lord, and the actor most closely associated with the role, David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor and the Fourteenth Doctor. Also part of OMITB‘s upcoming season is Jim Broadbent, who played an alternate version of the Eleventh Doctor in the 1999 Comic Relief special Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death.’

Personally I would not count Broadbent as the Comic Relief sketch is not canon, but does it matter? Is Season 6 set in the U.K. by any chance? I have completely forgotten how the last season ended. However, I do recall it being my least favourite thus far. I guess it would make sense with the amount of British cast being added, but who knows?
I was watching Season 6 anyway, but this news has got me curious to see if there will be any meta Doctor Who jokes.
