The God of Destruction returns in an enhanced retelling of one of Dragon Ball Super’s most iconic arcs.
The God of Destruction is waking up again. Toei Animation and Crunchyroll have announced that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on October 11, giving fans worldwide a fresh, enhanced take on one of the most beloved storylines in the Dragon Ball franchise.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus revisits Beerus’s arrival as the God of Destruction and his fateful first encounter with Goku. Rather than a straight re-release, the series features both enhanced and all-new animation and visuals, offering longtime fans a reason to return and newcomers an ideal entry point into the Super era.
Toei Animation produces the series, drawing directly from creator Akira Toriyama’s original story, character designs, and creative vision. For many fans, seeing Toriyama’s work brought to the screen with a modern visual upgrade will be the biggest draw.

Here’s the story of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus:
Several years have passed since the fierce battle against Majin Buu, and Earth has finally regained a brief moment of peace. At the same time, Beerus awakens from his long, deep sleep. Even Kai and the Supreme Kai, who know all too well that Beerus can destroy entire planets, watch his awakening in fear.
Beerus soon hears rumors of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza and suddenly appears before Goku. With the strongest being in the universe now setting his sights on Earth, the planet is in grave danger. What follows is an earth-shattering cosmic battle between the God of Destruction and Goku and his allies, a conflict that will shake the entire universe.
The Beerus arc marked a turning point for Dragon Ball. It introduced the concept of gods and angels overseeing the multiverse, raised the power ceiling to new heights, and gave Goku a new kind of opponent: one whose strength was so far beyond his own that the fight became as much about growth as victory. Beerus himself, with his mix of laid-back whimsy and terrifying power, quickly became a fan favorite. Seeing that introduction refreshed with new animation is a meaningful moment for the franchise.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will stream with subtitles on Crunchyroll in the United States, Canada, Latin America (including Brazil), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
Whether you first met Beerus years ago or are discovering him for the first time, mark October 11 on your calendar. The God of Destruction is hungry, and he’s coming for Goku.
