Epic Pictures Group’s horror label, DREAD, has just wrapped filming on The Jester 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s The Jester. This sequel, written and directed by Colin Krawchuk (The Jester, Initiation, Victory: A Star Wars Story), promises a darker, more intense storyline and is set for release in 2025. The first film in the series is currently streaming exclusively on Shudder.
Returning to the screen as the menacing trickster, Michael Sheffield (Behind Closed Doors) will reprise his role as The Jester, alongside new cast members Kaitlyn Trentham (Haven, Murder Made Me Famous), Hassen Kacem (Out of the Box Office), Jessica Ambuehl (Black Mold), and Dingani Beza (The Carmichael Show). Fans are in for a surprise, as The Jester 2 introduces a fresh look for the chilling character. Behind-the-scenes photos from filming are also available for fans eager for a sneak peek.
The official synopsis reveals a haunting Halloween night where The Jester, a supernatural trickster, crosses paths with Max, a 15-year-old girl. Their uneasy alliance pits them against a formidable magician with true powers, testing Max’s bravery and wit in a battle of wills.

Patrick Ewald, CEO of Epic Pictures, shared his excitement: “Launching the original Terrifier proved what it takes to create a horror icon, and now, with The Jester, we’re witnessing lightning strike twice. The runaway success of the first film shattered our expectations and made it clear that fans crave daring and unforgettable horror. With The Jester 2, we’re raising the stakes and pushing the limits even further, crafting a storyline that’s haunting, intense, and impossible to forget. This isn’t just a sequel; it’s the next chapter in building a legacy. Horror fans are in for one wild ride—they’d better hold on tight!”
Krawchuk, who has spent nearly a decade crafting The Jester’s journey from shorts to feature films, expressed his pride in the latest installment: “I left this production feeling like this was finally the culmination of nearly 10 years of living with the Jester. Every department exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible hard work the cast and crew put into this movie. I think this feature harkens back to the tone and atmosphere of the original short films in a satisfying way and expands The Jester as a character more than anything we’ve done before. As writer/director, this was an especially difficult experience. As a fan of the Jester, I’m very excited to see this movie.”
