Paramount Players division has been developing a live action Dora the Explorer. Last October they hired writer/director Nick Stoller to work on the script. James Bobin whose credits include Alice Through the Looking Glass and Muppets Most Wanted is directing the film. The title role of Dora is being played by Isabela Moner.
Along with her Variety is reporting that Eva Longoria will be joining the film, playing Dora’s mother. She last appeared in Ken Marino’s canine comedy, Dog Days along with Nina Dobrev, Finn Wolfhard and Vanessa Hudgens. She is also an executive producer for the ABC drama Grand Hotel.
Dora the Explorer will of course center on Dora, but as a teenage moving to the city and dealing with high school. Along with her best friend monkey, Boots, she will lead a rag tag group of teens on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.
It is being produced by Kristin Burr. Executive producers for the film are John G. Scotti, Julia Pistor and Eugenio Derbez who along with this role is also starting in the film along with Micke Moreno, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, Adriana Barraza and Temuera Morrison.
