Yeah, I guess this is happening. Like it or not, we are really getting a Dora the Explorer movie, so prepare yourselves for whatever that entails. But if you were curious as to how loyal they’d be in terms of the character’s overall look, then wonder no longer!
Paramount has released the first image of actress Isabela Moner (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Transformers: The Last Knight) as everyone’s favorite child explorer. Check it out below:
The film officially began principal photography this past Monday in Australia on August 6, 2018, and is set to hit theaters on August 2 of 2019. The film is set to be directed by The Muppets and Alice Through the Looking Glass helmer James Bobin, so I’m not sure which half of him we’ll be getting. Let’s hope that his work on The Muppets is more indicative of what we’ll be getting from this film.
Per our own interview with Moner this past June, it was revealed that the movie will actually be an action/comedy, not just a straight comedy, or a straight kids movie, so I think we can expect a few surprises.
Below is the official synopsis:
“Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora for the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.”
