First Supergirl Poster Tells Us To Look Out Not Up

The first poster for Supergirl, revealed by studio boss James Gunn tells the audience to look out not up like the one for Superman. Supergirl is the next film coming in the DCU which essentially just began with Superman in cinemas now. The film was originally subtitled Woman of Tomorrow after the story on which it is based. However, that has been dropped now in favour of simply Supergirl.

This poster, well it’s not up to much to be honest. It’s just the image of Supergirl (Milly Alcock) from Superman against a fairly generic background and the message as quoted in the title. Check out Gunn’s X post below.

Gunn isn’t directing Supergirl, that task falls to Craig Gillespie. However, he has filled us in previously on what to expect from the main character. Superman she is not.

“She’s a mess. She’s a total mess. I mean, I think as we learn, she’s had a completely different background from Superman. A much more difficult background. He’s had this wonderful upbringing by these two parents that loved him and were very healthy. And her background was much different than that. And she’s ended up different than her cousin.”

Supergirl will be with us on June 26, 2026. It should be follow up by a second DCU film in 2026, which will be Clayface. After that, it becomes harder to predicts ads the studios awaits completed scripts they like. Though, priorities do seem to be movies for Batman and Wonder Woman currently.

We do also have Peacemaker Season 2 to come and Gunn has hinted that series may begin to tease where we are headed eventually for the DCU’s first event movie.

What do you think of the first poster for Supergirl, will you be looking out or looking away come June, 26′? Thoughts below as always.
