With shooting currently underway on the Game of Thrones prequel series (most likely to be titled ‘The Logest Night,’ author George R.R. Martin revealed a good amount of information of the series during an inerview with Entertainment Weekly.
For one thing, Westeros will be made up of much more than seven kingdoms, somewhere up around the hunded mark, as Martin explains below,
“We talk about the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros; there were Seven Kingdoms at the time of Aegon’s Conquest. But if you go back further then there are nine kingdoms, and 12 kingdoms, and eventually you get back to where there are a hundred kingdoms — petty kingdoms — and that’s the era we’re talking about here.”

I recerntly listened to an audio telling of Aegon’s Conquest, that story is one I would very much like to see on screen, however, as GRRM said above, it looks like we’re going back much further than that. Martin also confirmed the return of one of the noble families, which would be House Stark. The ones show watchers know as the White Walkers, or The Others to book readers, will also be around, check it out below.
“The Starks will definitely be there. Obviously the White Walkers are here — or as they’re called in my books, The Others — and that will be an aspect of it. There are things like direwolves and mammoths.”
As mentioned above, the show is currently shooting, and we’ll have a teaser trailer before we know it and be able to better judge where this is heading..
