Ramin Djawadi will return to Westeros to score HBO‘s Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon. Djawadi won two prime-time Emmy awards for his work on Game of Thrones. Taking home statues for the episodes “The Dragon and the Wolf,” and “The Long Night.”
Surprisingly, he somehow wasn’t nominated for the Season 6 finale, “The Winds of Winter.” This episode had some of the most hauntingly beautiful music I’ve ever heard. It’s huge to have him return for House of the Dragon. Djawadi’s brilliant score was an essential part of Game of Thrones. And I have no reason to doubt he will bring that same brilliance to the highly-anticipated spin-off series which will focus on House Targaryen.

Djawadi has also used his talents on another brilliant HBO series in Westworld. He received Emmy nominations for the episode, “Akane No Mai,” and for the show’s main title theme. Djawadi has his name on other iconic projects such as the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man. I first noticed Djawadi work on the series Prison Break. And have been interested to hear anything he’s worked on since.
Music is such an incredibly important, if not crucial part of film and television. And Djawadi’s work is a prime example of how sound can complement visuals.
