Is Christopher Waltz Returning As Blofeld In Bond 25?

We know that Bond 25 is currently filming at Pinewood Studios in England, and that it will once again star Daniel Craig as 007. Other than that we really don’t know too much, but the movie has had its share of difficulties already. First of all Danny Boyle was replaced as director by Cary Fukunaga, and then there were rumors around an unhappy set with some work ethic problems from Fukunaga, which were all denied. So in true Bond fashion, it’ll probably end up being the best film in years, right?

One of the issues fans had with the last Bond movie Spectre, was the fact that criminal mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld, (Christopher Waltz) was actually Franz Oberhauser, Bond’s brother. Of course, Blofeld was captured by MI6 at the end of the movie and we already know that Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) is playing the villain of Bond 25, so was that the last we’ll see of this iteration of Blofeld? Turns out the answer is most likely no, it looks like Christopher Waltz has been spotted at filming in Pinewood, and it seems like he at least shows up at some point in Bond 25.

Baz Bamigboye, a gossip columnist for UK tabloid The Daily Mail, claims that he ran into Waltz at Pinewood and that he was told “You haven’t seen me.” By the veteran actor. You can check the social media post below in Bam’s own words. Waltz had previously said he would not be returning in the role of Blofeld, so no one expected this really?

Now, normally I’d have massive misgivings about sharing a story broken by The Daily Mail or their gossip columnist, but this seems too on the money. Either he did see Waltz or he’s making the whole thing up and I certainly would never accuse anyone of anything like that. In actual fact, it seems like the meeting probably went down exactly as described. Waltz will, however, be glad to know his request for anonymity was shared with a gossip columnist who probably sent out the social media post 15 minutes later. But hey, ho, that’s how we get this kind of news, isn’t it?

As a side note, LRM Online has reached out to their own sources regarding this and will give an update if we have one to give.

It seems likely that if Waltz is returning then it will not be as the main villain, which as we said is Malek, but perhaps Bond and his ‘brother’ talk at some point whilst he is in custody, or perhaps Malek is working for Blofeld and trying to secure his release? This is Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007, likely, so I do hope this movie sends him off with a bang rather than a dull thud.
