There is a lot riding on the next James Bond film. No Time to Die will end Daniel Craig’s run as the 007 agent, and will also bring to an end an unprecedented era in the franchise. We started out seeing the hero’s first kill and have made it all the way to him settling down and legitimately trying to find happiness for himself. But just how much did James Bond actually settle down? If we’re to believe the latest rumor…quite a bit.

The New Bond Girl
There’s a new rumor floating around, courtesy of The Daily Mail. According to the outlet, James Bond will be a father in No Time to Die. Last film saw the agent settle down with Lea Seydoux’s Dr. Madelein Swann, and if we’re to believe the rumor, they start out the film with a five-year-old daughter named Mathilde.
Of course, this is brand-new territory for the franchise. Bond himself is generally viewed as a womanizer who climbs into bed with a few different women per film. Over the course of Craig’s tenure, we have seen him fall in love, but he’s never been away from the agent life long enough to spawn a kid.
“Yes, it’s true. Bond is a dad,” one insider told the outlet. “Daniel wanted to make this Bond film the most surprising and entertaining yet. Daniel is older and his Bond is maturing and looking at life through the prism of fatherhood. But there’s a lot more to it than that.”

Making James Bond a father in No Time to Die apparently changed the dynamic of the script quite a bit. All of a sudden, it “opened up a whole avenue of powerful moments — and jokes. It’s the one thing fans would never expect,” the insider continued. “Bond has always managed to charm his way into the hearts and beds of hundreds of beautiful women, seemingly without any consequences. Making him a father opens up a whole new world in terms of drama and story development.”
Of course, this is bound to be a controversial move. There is a list of things that many Bond fans feel are essential aspects of what makes the characters and the movies function. Being a single guy with no connections and the ability to hook up with anything that moves seems to be one of them. Will him having a family tie him down too much? Personally, I think it’s a great move to help make things interesting and fresh before they close the book on Craig’s reign. Plus, it sounds like all of this stuff is important.
“Everything is interwoven,” the insider said. “Bond finding out he is a father is integral to the plot.”
