For many decades, Josie and The Pussycats were the favorite singing all-girl band that graced the comic book world for Archie Comics since the 1960s and even appeared as a Saturday morning cartoon by Hanna-Barbara Productions. However, for the Baby Boomers and X-generation, Josie and The Pussycats made their big-screen debut in 2001.
Universal Pictures invited the band back for a virtual reunion to celebrate the film’s twentieth anniversary that delighted a lot of young teen girls back then.
Joie (Rachel Leigh Cook), Melody (Tara Reid), and Val (Rosario Dawson) interviewed each other for eight minutes to discuss the popularity and behind-the-scenes stuff in the movie.
Technically, it was a box office bomb earning only $15 million at the worldwide box office (a better showing than another small girl band film Jem and the Holograms). The movie found its success as a cult movie that got plenty of replay on the small screen.
Josie and The Pussycats follow three small-town young female musicians determined to take their rock band out of their garage and straight to the top while remaining true to their look, style, and sound. They get a record deal that brings fame and fortune, but soon realize they are pawns of two people who want to control the youth of America. They must clear their names, even if it means losing fame and fortune.

The film also starred Alan Cumming, Parker Posey, Gabriel Mann, Paulo Costanzo, and Missi Pyle in supporting roles. Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan wrote and directed the movie.
Watch the twentieth-anniversary reunion below with Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson as they walk down memory lane with the music and experiences from the movie. Only if the reunion video was a little longer.
