The DCU’s Lanterns series finds a director for the first two episodes and screen tests happened yesterday for the role of John Stewart. The HBO series set in the DCU will star Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan (and whoever wins the role of John Stewart). You can find some of the front runners for that role in our related section below.
Here is what THR reported about the Lanterns director.
‘A director for the DC Studios and HBO’s much-ballyhooed series Lanterns has been found.’
‘James Hawes, an established TV helmer who most recently directed a string of episodes of the Gary Oldman spy series Slow Horses, has been tapped to helm the first two episodes of the sci-fi cop series.’

I’ll guess it won’t be long then till we find out who will be co-leading this show with Kyle Chandler. Here’s what THR says about the supposed plot of Lanterns.
‘Lanterns is said to have a gritty, True Detective vibe and follows Hal Jordan, a legend amongst the space police force known as the Green Lanterns, as he reluctantly mentors a younger Green Lantern, John Stewart. The two intergalactic cops get drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.’
I do like the sound of this, I’ve said it before. But as always we will wait and see what we get on screen in the future.
