Looks Like The Witcher Animated Film WON’T Star Geralt

The Witcher from Netflix was pretty well received by the majority of audiences, as far as we can tell. I certainly do not hear much negativity around the show online. Well, if you don’t include some of the early critics. It will be some time before we see Season 2, as filming is only just beginning. So Spring 2021 will be the release date for the show’s second season barring delays. However, we had heard there was an animated movie coming also. Now, we have more details on that.

It turns out that The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will actually be a prequel, and focus on Geralt’s mentor and teacher Vesemir. Check out the official synopsis below.

Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a Witcher, after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.

As yet we do not have a release date set for this animated movie, but I will most certainly be watching it when it hits. Vesemir did not appear as a character in Season 1 of The Witcher and fans have been wondering who Netflix will cast for the live-action version of the role (the above image is from the video games). The top tip for a long time amongst fans has been Mark Hamill, who has not been shy about expressing interest either. Will the voice actor for this be the same person they use for the live-action version? That seems like a logical step, but who knows?

Vesemir’s voice was heard briefly in Season 1, when Geralt was in a fever dream. This voice was actor Theo James, who is far too young to play Vesemir in the show as an older man. However, James could well be playing the younger version of the character for the voice work in this animated movie? Again, we just don’t have that information yet.
